While this is D&E’s 4th Asia tour, it’s their 1st in gracing our shores with “Delight Party” as a sub-unit .

Reveling in the electrifying atmosphere and being charmed by D&E’s energetic vibes, the 2,300-strong ELFs at The Star Theatre, were able to bask “in the moment”.

Definitely living up to the spirit of being Delightful, ELFs had a wonderful time laughing, cheering D&E on with fanchants, waving SU Bongs while dancing to their most renowned hits.

ELFs were given a repertoire of not just D&E hits, but also the most iconic classics from Super Junior.

The 37-year-old duo’s exuberance & witty humour are antidotes to your taxing lives.

From yakking abt chilli & pepper crabs in their MENT, dancing to Super Mario theme, playing keyboard & drums to Westlife’s “My Love”, calling fans out for not trusting them to win games, to asking why fans seek permission for toilet breaks, these easy-going dorks had their way of keeping audience entertained.

Let’s revisit some of the memorable and delightful moments to keep your post withdrawal syndromes at bay before their next tour.

It was a memorable night with an earnest exchange of love and amazing synergy – a tribute to Jung Hae In’s successful acting career and a “Thanksgiving” gathering which celebrated the appreciation between the actor & his adoring fans.

From jogging to different ends of the stage to reach out to fans, throwing autographed paper planes, wefies with different poses and big hugs to all who went on stage, autographed props and personal items, and allowing fans to video him during the Goodbye Session, Jung Hae In delivered the most ultimatum fan services one can imagine.

Being sincere, genuine, humble, warm, thoughtful and appreciative, are what makes him tick.

Let’s take a brief moment to return to the interactive night filled with Jung Hae In belting songs from his drama OSTs, Q&A sessions, game segment and sharing some heartfelt life stories.

We had an “Oh! Happy Day” with Park Bo Gum back in 2017, when we were moved by his excellent fan service and sincerity.

We’re thrilled to have him back to endow us with a “Good Day” in 2019.

It was a fabulously “Good Day”, whereby our hearts were filled to the brim by his altruistic nature. He’s not just a “precious sword”, but also a very “rare gem”.

What didn’t change is his humble, down-to-earth, sincere and genuine demeanor. It’s in your guts to be able to distinguish a sincere person immediately. You can tell he had wholeheartedly put in effort to spend an enjoyable and memorable day with his adorers.

While the game segments were cut down to accommodate a longer sing-and-dance session, the ever generous Bogummy still gifted many lucky fans with autographed items. He’s still as cheeky, bubbly, smiley, energetic, sweet, hardworking and emits positive vibes to everyone around him. We love a true gentleman who is so ever warm-hearted.

Decked in checkered brown suit and his megawatt smile, the hall crooned with cheers and applause while he started the FM with DAY6’s “I Like You”. He chose “May Your Everyday be a Good Day” as his 2nd FM theme because he felt that any moment spent together with his fans, is a GOOD day. Ah Ken praised Bogummy to be a very hardworking guy who took his rehearsals seriously and diligently practised every song on the list.

We vividly remembered him playing the piano and singing a BD song for a fan whose birthday happened to fall on the day of the FM. He did it again this year for all the birthday babies. This guy is never a facade.
He earnestly felt the fans deserved a BD song since they spent their important day with him, instead of their loved ones.

When asked how he acted out the cute “drunk scene” in “Encounter” since he doesn’t drink alcohol in real life, he expressed that it was just a feeling. He had sung for his friends over the phone like Jin Hyuk did in “Encounter”. He was in deep thoughts, revisiting his memories to recall the exact songs or scenarios. It was an adorably cute moment of silence. He is so unpretentious, even when it comes to giving responses.

The “Catch Up with Encounter” segment was the most heart palpitating. 3 lucky fans had the “Encounter” of their lifetime and re-enacted scenes with Park Bo Gum. Be it Bogummy putting scarf around their neck, taking a wefie or a backhug, these drew zealous screams from the crowd.

There was a table stacked full of autographed merchandises and personal items, such as calendars, sports shoes, clothes similar to those he had worn during filming and the hat he got from USS. He’s an endearing Santa Claus. It doesn’t have to be December to be the season of giving. Park Bo Gum makes you feel loved the whole year round!

The candle making segment opened our horizons to how he is like in real life – a perfectionist with some OCD traits.

Blue sand was chosen as it reminded him of the blue sky in Singapore, a lion figure which represents “Lion City”, five white stars and a heart shape that embodies his love for his fans.

He tried to ensure that the sand was leveled as flat as possible. We could hear amusing “cartoon” noises like “argh”, “wraahhh”, “hmmmphh”, “grrrr” when he couldn’t have the lion figurine standing on the sand after several failed attempts. It came to a point when he was so displeased and frustrated with his creations that he removed everything from the bottle, just to smoothen out the sand!

His seriousness & OCD in ensuring the D.I.Y Singapore candle was “perfect”, was a hilariously comical moment when he insisted the creation had to be pretty.

This did not deter Bogummy in making a “perfect” gift. He does not condone slip shod work and wanted the best for his fans.

This is not just an idol’s sweet and heartfelt way of reciprocating his devotees’ love, but also an act of his LOVE for them.

There were soulful renditions to ballads such as IU’s “Through the Night”, G.O.D’s “One Candle”, his previous dramas OST tracks, such as “Always Be with You”, “My Person” & “Swallowing My Heart”.

The atmosphere took a switch to being lively and chirpy when he began grooving to a 80s style hit, “Honey” from JYP. It cracked us up to see his hilarious and cheeky expressions while dancing to upbeat tunes such as TWICE’s “What is Love”, SEVENTEEN’s “Pretty You” & PSY’s “Entertainer”.

This isn’t something we expect from someone who’s usually so reserved. Getting audience to groove on their feet and “mocking” at them later for being “bad dancers”, was a “prank” that he totally enjoyed. He was absolutely delighted to see the audience being entertained.

The gracious actor walked down the aisles a few times to get up-close with the audience, distributing autographed rubber balls. Regardless the price you paid for the ticket, he ensured that no one was being left out.
He did not merely amuse us, but also touched us in many ways.

The climax of the night would undeniably be the moment when he sat by a black piano and began playing and singing along to JJ Lin’s “修炼爱情/Practice Love”。While he fumbled along the way with the lyrics, it was such a commendable effort that it had the audience cheering and singing aloud to help him with it. He totally awed us with this delightful surprise. The cheers and applause was the loudest at this magical moment. It was a heartwarming mass sing-along session.

He ended the night with Deul Guk Hwa’s “Blessing”, thanked the fans for being with him and wished all to be well and healthy, with the promise to reciprocate with better works.

While going through the Hi-5 session, he was tirelessly thanking everyone with a smile. I said a “Thank You”, while he greeted me with a very energetic “BYE”!

That positive energy is indeed infectious and his FMs would always top the 1st few on my ranking charts.

It’s certainly true that he draws his energy from his devotees’ love; for there wasn’t an instance he showed his weariness.

As if giving out autographed items, wefies, big hugs, dancing and singing weren’t enough to prove his love, he gave everyone a “love letter” and a Hi-5 too.

Just what would he not do to make his fans smile?

Just like the official light stick that he designed, he has a pair of invisible angel wings on his back. He stays very much rooted to his humble beginnings and never once forgets to live each day to the fullest and treats everyone the best that he can.

Our hearts are full because of you, Bogummy. Your heart is BIG and you showed us how generous and giving someone can be. These thoughts and gestures are the best presents you can “gift” anyone.

It wasn’t just a good day, but an unforgettable one.Read More →

Never had the fans of zombie apocalypses movies been more excited, than to have Korean Superstars Jang Dong Gun and Hyun Bin, gracing the red carpet at Suntec City Mall, with Singapore being the only overseas stop for their latest movie “Rampant”’s promotional activities.

The 2 hunky and gorgeous looking men made their appearance, decked in black suits, on all smiles and acceding to fans’ requests (for handshake, autograph and wefies) on the red carpet. Jang Dong Gun & Hyun Bin sent hearts fluttering with their grace, class, thoughtfulness and impeccable, oozing manliness.

No other Korean Stars have spent so much time at the red carpet just to give such great fan service. It was definitely the first, with a class on its own. They are one of the biggest stars with the most easy going & friendly personalities. 他们和蔼可亲和随和的举动,令你感觉到的不是巨星的霸气,而是暖男们的贴心。这无疑也顿时拉近他们和影迷, 媒体之间的距离。It’s not their duty, but they made it their call to reciprocate to the fans.

Some “1st” that SG achieved with this International Junket:

– The 1st time that Korean stars would spend 30 min signing autographs & taking wefies on the red carpet, there was no rush or haste but to satisfy their ardent fans’
– There was no prior screening of interview questions. The director and stars answered every single question that was directed at them.
– It’s also the 1st time when the audiences would clap and cheer after all on stage took their turns to make their speeches (even at the gala premiere)
– The 1st time that Korean stars suggested for the host to take a centre position in a group photo (according to Host Danny Yeo).

It shows how easy-going and confident they are.

Would you have felt awkward if you have to act as opponents in a movie with your longtime bestie? It didn’t feel so the case for our MANLY leads of “Rampant” though they have never collaborated in any drama or movie before. They were able to rely on each other during filming and get to know another side of their bestie as a professional actor.

Jang Dong Gun, who’s the “epitome of aging with class and grace”, topped with Hyun Bin’s attractiveness in his prime, is a “deadly” combination. This duo, who are best friends in real life, have a lot in common, including their easy-going personalities. That’s also a major draw as to why you should watch “Rampant”, to see how these besties take on confrontational roles in the movie.

The 2 stars look really suave in real life, SO MUCH more dashing than on TV. They are starkly tall at 1.8 to 1.84m. Standing so close to them with just less than 1m away, would put you to shame when you marveled at their flawless and radiant complexions.

Jang Dong Gun is slightly tanned, has this radiant glow on his face and is always on all smiles. His big, beautiful eyes are the most electrifying. He seems like someone who is very mild and fun-loving in real life. His voice is very soothing and pleasing to the ears. He’s also pretty composed and relaxed. 他就像红酒一样,越来越浓和有味道。

他懂得如何优雅地让后辈们 take central stage & enjoy the limelight. Just look at how he would always let Hyun Bin speak more as a Hoobae.

Hyun Bin who’s at his prime at 36 years old, had more ardent fans screaming for him. He’s one who would turn heads a few times if you see him on the streets. Photographs and videos do not do Hyun Bin justice. This guy is so NOT photogenic at all. He looks tonnes better in real life. He may not be the walk-out-of-comic type of “Handsome”, but he looks so much more dashing in real life.

He would acknowledge and gesture to the fans shouting “Hyun Bin Oppa” from both ends of the red carpet. It was a sweet yet funny sight to see that he was as if, satisfying “little kids” who were vying for attention. He’s more cool compared to JDG.

Most audiences got to know Hyun Bin during “My Lovely Samsoon”, but “Secret Garden” propelled him to Superstardom. He’s not just being loved for his acting, but also for his tenacity as a real man who enlisted into the toughest branch at Marine Corps during military service.

While his works after his military service may not have received as much love as compared to before, his recent movie attempts to take on tougher and more diverse roles seem to be working well. He has begun to take on more mature role in “Confidential Assignment” and even being a villain in “The Negotiation”. It is a good swerve for him as he approaches his mid-thirties.

Danny first mentioned that he wanted the director and stars to know that this is the longest and friendliest red carpet we ever had in Singapore.

The trio shared some of their thoughts about being in Singapore and receiving such a warm and passionate welcome. JDG was here for a holiday with his family last summer and he attempted some Chinese poems in the movie, however he is only able to make a simple greeting like “大家好, 我是张东健” now。。It sent the fans chuckling with his cute and earnest response.

The challenges for Hyun Bin were that there were many strenuous scenes in the movie and they had to put a lot of thought into safety precautions.

It was towards the end that Danny asked if the fans would like to have the 2 stars turning into zombies to attack them, that sent the stars and director laughing away. When asked what is it that they are most scared of, Jang Dong Gun replied that he seldom loses control in real life and loves zombie flicks, but he is more scared of his children as they don’t always turn out or behave as he wishes them to. Well, that’s an earnest response from a dad.

If what Jang Dong Gun mentioned that the movie theme is about losing control is true, I wonder how many ladies lost all control when they saw them, at least a few thousand at Suntec City Mall.

Hyun Bin said that he probably has nothing that he fears, not even insects, pests or beasts.

Well, that’s likely the vast difference between a married vs single man.

When you have a family of your own, you will have more things to worry or be cautious about, but when you are single, you are carefree.

It seemed that the trio’s mood had never been better, especially at the moment right before the movie “Rampant” makes its debut in Singapore at RWS. They laughed out loud when Danny asked if the fans reaching out their “claws” to the actors were scarier than the zombies in the movie. This is when Director Kim Sung Hoon jokingly expressed that he should have brought all his crew and equipment along to film a sequel to “Rampant”.

The leading actors talked a little more about the portrayal of their characters in the movie. It has always been an enjoyment to watch Jang Dong Gun act. Being the villain in this movie, he tried to add more depths and layers to make it stand out more than just a one-dimensional villain.

He focused on creating and bringing out the harmony on set, than to focus just solely on his character. This is what we call a “seasoned veteran actor”.

Hyun Bin mentioned more about his challenges filming the movie and also praised the unsung heroes, such as the zombie extras and the music that they used in the movie was performed by the London Symphony.

The dashing oppas would also hope that the audience would try to look out for the message that this movie is trying to bring across, the massive action scenes and visuals as the movie pulls towards the climax and the sheer scale of the production.

While it was a short encounter, I am grateful that we had the honour & privilege to grace the same red carpet (though not at the same time) as Korean Superstars, Jang Dong Gun Oppa & Hyun Bin.

It’s a dream come true for me to see Jang Dong Gun at least once this lifetime. Hopefully there will be more opportunities in future.

Thanks to all the organizers and crew for having put up such a successful event.

It was a night to remember for all present.Read More →

Clueless as to why he’s crowned as the “Nation’s Boyfriend” in Korea, Park Seo Jun thinks the only reason is because he’s an honest person.

After having spent a good 2 hours at the fan meet, we’re not surprised as to how he earned his title & can certainly list you some very good reasons.

He’s not just eligible boyfriend material, but also a Male Best Friend aka Buddy material.

Park Seo Jun earned the hearts of those present with his earnest & easy going nature. He’s straightforward but takes time to warm up. He’s pretty humorous in his own “Pabo”way.

Just like Ko Dong Man, he’s a very down-to-earth person who works hard to attain his goals. He has just been awarded the “Best New Actor Award” for his movie “Midnight Runners” and undoubtedly, one of the rising stars in Korea.

He’s got a strong sense of justice & responsibility. He may not be a “walk out of comic” character, but he has a warm & personable allure that draws you to him.

Host Matthew Zachary Liu encouraged fans to snap & video to their hearts’ content. This made the whole event more relaxed & enjoyable. The power of social media should not be undermined. By sharing interesting, funny videos & pictures online, it can reach out to more fans worldwide. It is also good publicity for the artiste.

Park Seo Jun’s very amicable & his fan service was excellent.

While most fan meets have similar rundown, no one seemed to really mind if they could spend some quality time with their favourite star.

Sometimes, it is the simplest things in life that make it more enjoyable.

I appreciate his sincerity in how he spent a lot of time & effort in preparing the pasta for his fans. He also answered every question from the audience (that was not scripted).

Now, that is quite uncommon for a Korean fan meet as most questions needed to be screened through prior to the event.

He’s pretty 亲民 & accommodating, when he took selfies & gave big hugs to all who went on stage. He acceded to fans’ requests of recording “Good Morning” videos, singing BD songs, even teasing the fans with a “No” when they wanted to him to say “I Love You”.

The Dong Saeng was at the exit, patiently awaiting everyone who passed by, met their eyes, raised both his palms and did a “High 10” gently, saying “Thank You” in English.

That’s what we call being earnest and sincere.

We would love to have Park Seo Jun back on Sunny Island soon definitely!Read More →
