We had an “Oh! Happy Day” with Park Bo Gum back in 2017, when we were moved by his excellent fan service and sincerity.

We’re thrilled to have him back to endow us with a “Good Day” in 2019.

It was a fabulously “Good Day”, whereby our hearts were filled to the brim by his altruistic nature. He’s not just a “precious sword”, but also a very “rare gem”.

What didn’t change is his humble, down-to-earth, sincere and genuine demeanor. It’s in your guts to be able to distinguish a sincere person immediately. You can tell he had wholeheartedly put in effort to spend an enjoyable and memorable day with his adorers.

While the game segments were cut down to accommodate a longer sing-and-dance session, the ever generous Bogummy still gifted many lucky fans with autographed items. He’s still as cheeky, bubbly, smiley, energetic, sweet, hardworking and emits positive vibes to everyone around him. We love a true gentleman who is so ever warm-hearted.

Decked in checkered brown suit and his megawatt smile, the hall crooned with cheers and applause while he started the FM with DAY6’s “I Like You”. He chose “May Your Everyday be a Good Day” as his 2nd FM theme because he felt that any moment spent together with his fans, is a GOOD day. Ah Ken praised Bogummy to be a very hardworking guy who took his rehearsals seriously and diligently practised every song on the list.

We vividly remembered him playing the piano and singing a BD song for a fan whose birthday happened to fall on the day of the FM. He did it again this year for all the birthday babies. This guy is never a facade.
He earnestly felt the fans deserved a BD song since they spent their important day with him, instead of their loved ones.

When asked how he acted out the cute “drunk scene” in “Encounter” since he doesn’t drink alcohol in real life, he expressed that it was just a feeling. He had sung for his friends over the phone like Jin Hyuk did in “Encounter”. He was in deep thoughts, revisiting his memories to recall the exact songs or scenarios. It was an adorably cute moment of silence. He is so unpretentious, even when it comes to giving responses.

The “Catch Up with Encounter” segment was the most heart palpitating. 3 lucky fans had the “Encounter” of their lifetime and re-enacted scenes with Park Bo Gum. Be it Bogummy putting scarf around their neck, taking a wefie or a backhug, these drew zealous screams from the crowd.

There was a table stacked full of autographed merchandises and personal items, such as calendars, sports shoes, clothes similar to those he had worn during filming and the hat he got from USS. He’s an endearing Santa Claus. It doesn’t have to be December to be the season of giving. Park Bo Gum makes you feel loved the whole year round!

The candle making segment opened our horizons to how he is like in real life – a perfectionist with some OCD traits.

Blue sand was chosen as it reminded him of the blue sky in Singapore, a lion figure which represents “Lion City”, five white stars and a heart shape that embodies his love for his fans.

He tried to ensure that the sand was leveled as flat as possible. We could hear amusing “cartoon” noises like “argh”, “wraahhh”, “hmmmphh”, “grrrr” when he couldn’t have the lion figurine standing on the sand after several failed attempts. It came to a point when he was so displeased and frustrated with his creations that he removed everything from the bottle, just to smoothen out the sand!

His seriousness & OCD in ensuring the D.I.Y Singapore candle was “perfect”, was a hilariously comical moment when he insisted the creation had to be pretty.

This did not deter Bogummy in making a “perfect” gift. He does not condone slip shod work and wanted the best for his fans.

This is not just an idol’s sweet and heartfelt way of reciprocating his devotees’ love, but also an act of his LOVE for them.

There were soulful renditions to ballads such as IU’s “Through the Night”, G.O.D’s “One Candle”, his previous dramas OST tracks, such as “Always Be with You”, “My Person” & “Swallowing My Heart”.

The atmosphere took a switch to being lively and chirpy when he began grooving to a 80s style hit, “Honey” from JYP. It cracked us up to see his hilarious and cheeky expressions while dancing to upbeat tunes such as TWICE’s “What is Love”, SEVENTEEN’s “Pretty You” & PSY’s “Entertainer”.

This isn’t something we expect from someone who’s usually so reserved. Getting audience to groove on their feet and “mocking” at them later for being “bad dancers”, was a “prank” that he totally enjoyed. He was absolutely delighted to see the audience being entertained.

The gracious actor walked down the aisles a few times to get up-close with the audience, distributing autographed rubber balls. Regardless the price you paid for the ticket, he ensured that no one was being left out.
He did not merely amuse us, but also touched us in many ways.

The climax of the night would undeniably be the moment when he sat by a black piano and began playing and singing along to JJ Lin’s “修炼爱情/Practice Love”。While he fumbled along the way with the lyrics, it was such a commendable effort that it had the audience cheering and singing aloud to help him with it. He totally awed us with this delightful surprise. The cheers and applause was the loudest at this magical moment. It was a heartwarming mass sing-along session.

He ended the night with Deul Guk Hwa’s “Blessing”, thanked the fans for being with him and wished all to be well and healthy, with the promise to reciprocate with better works.

While going through the Hi-5 session, he was tirelessly thanking everyone with a smile. I said a “Thank You”, while he greeted me with a very energetic “BYE”!

That positive energy is indeed infectious and his FMs would always top the 1st few on my ranking charts.

It’s certainly true that he draws his energy from his devotees’ love; for there wasn’t an instance he showed his weariness.

As if giving out autographed items, wefies, big hugs, dancing and singing weren’t enough to prove his love, he gave everyone a “love letter” and a Hi-5 too.

Just what would he not do to make his fans smile?

Just like the official light stick that he designed, he has a pair of invisible angel wings on his back. He stays very much rooted to his humble beginnings and never once forgets to live each day to the fullest and treats everyone the best that he can.

Our hearts are full because of you, Bogummy. Your heart is BIG and you showed us how generous and giving someone can be. These thoughts and gestures are the best presents you can “gift” anyone.

It wasn’t just a good day, but an unforgettable one.Read More →

It’s a journey full of roller coaster rides, misadventures, heart-breaking, heart thumping moments, but also an expedition to discover love, jealousy, courage, the good & imperfections of humanity.

You don’t need a reason to fall in love, but you just need one reason to keep it going.

Selling points of the show:
– Plotting & scheming between the demons – depict of the modern day 尔虞我诈
– Gods, Deities, Ghosts, Demons, Mermaid, Zombie
– Love story of Son Oh Gong & Sam Zang
– Bromance between Son Oh Gong and Ma Wang
– Loveline for PK and Buja

Morale of the story:

It really makes you burst out into laughter and their CGI is impressive, except the finale scene.

Who are these script writers with such great creativity and imagination? They are the renowned Hong Sisters who have written scripts for“You Are Beautiful”, “The Greatest Love”&“Master’s Sun”.

You would be assured of an interesting drama, though the last episode seemed pretty much rushed into and there are many unsatisfying plots.

The new version of 金钢箍 is on the wrist so that it can control Oh Gong’s heart. That’s also the initial reason why he could only helplessly fall in love with Sam Jang no matter what she does and he couldn’t bear to kill her, even if he wished to.

Much as Sam Jang’s lotus-scented blood is a magnet to all demons & spirits, including Son Oh Gong, the bad guy/monkey is like an irresistible magnet to Seon Mi as well. He’s downright bad to her, but she still loves him.

We call this “Deadly/Fatal Attraction”, right from the beginning.

Good girls love bad boys and when bad boys turn good for the girl, she loves him even more.

The all formidable Son Oh Gong’s only weakness, is Jin Yeon Mi.

Watch how the Monkey God who has a heart of stone, slowly learn to soften, be more considerate to others and most importantly, learn to love and sacrifice.

You also learn to recognize and revive those emotions when you used to or still love someone.

Isn’t that just love being portrayed in the most apt way?

I like how they depict the demons in the modern world.

There will be people who are jealous of you and will spread fake rumours, to make you feel down. There are demons who feed on inferiority complex, making people suffer from anorexia, depression, etc.

It is also pretty fascinating to see how our main characters, particularly Son Oh Gong, Ma Wang and Sam Zang could get into photographs, movie films into a different world dimension or era.

(Woo Ma Wang)
(Jin Sun Mi)

It’s a love & hate relationship between these 2, they just tickle you when they start bickering or fighting. It’s the 2nd time that Cha Seung Won & Lee Seung Gi collaborate, thus you can feel their chemistry since they are good friends in real life.

Sam Jung is his “master” in another way. She taught him how to love, be more considerate and kinder to others, think from others’ perspectives.

They started off as predator vs prey, 欢喜冤家 kind of relationship but it eventually sparked to a romance.

While viewers are asking for a Season 2, I thought it might just be good if they can have 1 or 2 more special episodes, to see what Oh Gong will do to get her back from where we “lost” her.

This is a pair with a bittersweet storyline and I’m sure most of the viewers, would hope that they could have a less忐忑 journey. You could see that love was blooming right from the beginning but there could never be a happy ending between a zombie and a pig demon.

I also like Lee Se Young’s switch to an evil Anh Sa-nyeo and how PK tried to 感化 a little at at time.

I sincerely hope to have a HWAYUGI special to have the love lines for Son Oh Gong, Sam Jang, PK & Buja and even poor Ma Wang, better paced for their respective endings..

My Vote goes to Cha Seung Won for the best acting in this drama.

牛魔王 is so funny!

I also like this part when Sun Mi and Son Oh Gong were discussing about the differences between demons and humans.

She mentioned that human feelings are fleeting and they don’t stay the same forever, but Oh Gong mentioned that for demons, once they have ascertained that you are a friend, they will fight alongside you till the end. Once betrayed, they will pay with their lives.

Well, I guess that’s why there’s a saying

All in all, I enjoyed this drama, despite the very bad CGI for the Finale Fighting scene. It’s a fantasy rom-com that teaches you how to love and also believe in yourself.Read More →

这是部不错的剧集, that’s if you like a little of fantasy, romance and melodrama.

There’s also plenty of 商场上的阿谀我诈。

You will really fall in love with Kim Rae Won in this drama.

Morale of the story: Life is short, cherish all that you love and spend your time more meaningfully.Read More →

It has been an intense, intriguing, action-packed 18 episodes with the latest “Grim Reaper” theme drama “Black”. It keeps you glued to the screen in a compelling way when you thought you were getting close to who the culprits were as the story unfolds, but every time, the twists and turns would lead you on to something new.

Intricate details showcased in this detective thriller, with a mixture of the unknown “afterlife” & a little romance, give the viewers a gravitational pull.

If not for the last 10 minutes that spoiled the “beauty” of this drama, it would undeniably be getting much better reviews.

“Black” is not just the name of the Grim Reaper #444, it also adds an additional “mysterious” layer to the dark theme. While the colour black is often associated with gloomy, dark, inauspicious things, or even death, it is a combination of these factors that gels the drama together to become so attractive.

It not just opens our curious minds to what holds in the unknown “afterlife” topics, but also sets us thinking about what are the most important things in life.

While Lee Dong Wook’s “Grim Reaper” image has been deeply entrenched in our minds & hearts since “Goblin” took on a global storm, Song Seung Heon’s tough, rash but witty “Grim Reaper” detective image does get on our good books too.

It seems that Song Seung Heon has not aged since “Autumn in my Heart”. With a tall, hunky physique, coupled with dashing good looks & nice thick brows, Seung Heon oppa fits so nicely in that black suit you wouldn’t mind seeing him wearing it for 90% of the drama.

Song Seung Heon’s acting has been much criticised over the years but the director does give some opportunity for him to enact 3 characters in one body.

It’s about a Grim reaper who’s stuck in a detective’s body, but as time goes by, he found his previous life memory as well. He then fell in love with a mortal woman who has the ability to see spirits.

We can see a big difference between Moo Gang who’s too timid to be a policeman and throws up at the sight of blood or can’t even hold a gun, versus a very badass Grim Reaper who is unfeeling and violent. I would say he has pulled through this drama better than many of his past dramas.

Even though there’s a 14-year gap between him and Go Ara and you feel that there’s a lack of super great passion cum chemistry, it was just sufficient for a drama like this where romance is not the main line.

It shows the gradual transformation of Black who was nonchalant and unfeeling to everything around him, to becoming a warmer person, who would seek justice and also care for Ha Ram. He eventually breaks down upon uncovering the truth and had to find ways to solve everything and make life better for Ha Ram.

While we can say all that he has done is noble and is in the best interests of Ha Ram, would Ha Ram have wanted him to do it this way?

All in all, I would say I have enjoyed the drama greatly. So many of the supporting roles have made this drama much better than expected.

Most importantly, we should not forget some of the tragedies that happened in real life and we need to reflect and learn from these incidents.

Midnight Runners, is all you need after a hard week at work, to keep you entertained on a Friday night. It’s like chilling with Lemon or Lime Mojito, with a refreshing twist to kick-start your weekend and it would leave you with a sweet after taste.

There’s not just lotsa laughter, but also an eye feast (literally), with young, hot bods (6 packs, biceps, triceps) of 2 rising stars (Park Seo Joon & Kang Ha Neul) in Korea.

You get a bit of everything from action to comedy, visual aesthetics (no romance though), yet not excessively violent or bloody like many action-packed Korean movies may get. It’s pretty well-balanced and well-paced. It isn’t draggy and there’s no time for boredom.

As the title says it, there’s a lot, a lot of running during midnight. The action scenes are bound to keep you breathless while watching the guys sprint their way from long winding roads to narrow alleys. You can literally label them as “Running Men”.

You’d be laughing half the time with the hilarious things they do, yet it did not fall into the category of slapstick comedy.

There’re some societal topics being brought out in the movie,

1) Putting self before others, or vice versa?

2) How materialistic people are these days. Before you decide to be friends with someone, you would assess their societal status.

3) Would you challenge red tape and protocol, if someone’s life is at stake?

4) Are you doing what you enjoy? Do you understand the rationale of why you are doing what you are doing now?

We all need to explore, to understand ourselves further.

It’s never too late to revive that fire in your heart, no matter what your passion or dream was/is.

You only live once, and you should not regret what you did not do.

There are dark moments but the light-heartedness of the friendship between the 2 leads, make it a very enjoyable journey to watch these recruits grow and mature in the movie.

This movie is definitely worth a ticket to the cinema over the weekend.

I’m sure it’s not just for swooning female fans, the guys would like it too.Read More →
